Model History:

The Seikomatic-R series was introduced in the mid-1960s as one of Seiko’s higher-grade automatic lines, sitting just below the Chronometer and Lord Marvel ranges. Powered by the 8305 calibre, these watches offered strong accuracy, durable Diashock protection, and clean, modern case designs. This June 1965 example (ref. 8305-9010) features a classic Seiko sunburst dial, applied indices, and the early dolphin-logo waterproof caseback - an iconic detail of 1960s Seiko production.

Condition:

The watch is in very good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The stainless steel case is well preserved overall, with normal surface scratches, small marks and light wear on the bezel, lugs and case sides. The case still has attractive lines, with a nice combination of polished and brushed surfaces.

The silver sunburst dial remains very attractive, with applied hour markers, framed date window and clear printing. The dial shows light age-related patina near the date window, but overall presents beautifully. The hands and indices are in good condition with light ageing consistent with the watch’s age.

The original crystal has been polished and remains clear, with only minor signs of age visible under close inspection. The watch is fitted with a new black leather strap.

The movement has recently been fully serviced and the watch is fully functional. It comes with a 3-month functionality guarantee. Overall, this is a well-preserved vintage Seiko Seikomatic-R with a beautiful silver sunburst dial, elegant case design and reliable serviced automatic performance.
