Match-Worn Shirt: Maicol Berretti #7 – San Marino
(2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification vs. Slovakia, 6 June 2009)
Product Description:
We are incredibly proud to offer an absolute grail item for collectors of international football rarity and exotic nations. This is an original, match-worn away shirt of the San Marino national team featuring the number 7, worn by midfielder Maicol Berretti during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Slovakia.
The match took place on 6 June 2009 at the Stadion pod Dubnom in Zilina, Slovakia, ending in a 7-0 victory for the home side. Maicol Berretti started the match in this historic qualification fixture and played until the 79th minute before being substituted.
This sky-blue shirt was manufactured by the niche Italian teamwear brand Virma, who supplied custom-made technical gear exclusively to the San Marino Football Federation (FSGC) during this campaign. These shirts were never made available for commercial retail sale, making any genuine player-spec garment exceptionally rare.
The professional match-worn nature of the shirt is fully evidenced by the original, oversized tournament sleeve patch reading: "South Africa 2010 - FIFA World Cup Qualifiers". Additionally, the initials of the federation "FSGC" are embroidered onto the back of the collar. In strict accordance with San Marino's kit regulations for away qualification fixtures of this era, the shirt features only the player's number 7 on the back without a printed surname.
