Rare and highly decorative sculptural ceramic vase designed by Matt (Mathieu) Camps for Loré Ceramics, Beesel, The Netherlands, model B120, dating from the 1970s.

This striking architectural design is one of Matt Camps’ most recognisable creations and is an excellent example of Dutch Brutalist ceramic design from the period. The vase features an expressive asymmetrical composition with three openings, an integrated loop handle and a beautifully nuanced graphite-grey glaze with subtle blue-grey tones and natural firing variations.

The underside is impressed with the model number B120.

An impressive statement piece that functions equally well as a sculptural object or as a vase, fitting effortlessly into Brutalist, postmodern, mid-century and contemporary interiors.

Condition

Presented in good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with age and use.

There is a stable hairline crack visible to the rim of the main opening, which appears longstanding and does not detract from the strong visual impact of the piece. The vase remains fully suitable for decorative display.

The interior shows some light residual deposits and signs of previous use, typical for a vintage ceramic vase of this age.

Minor firing irregularities and small surface variations are inherent to the manufacturing process and contribute to the character and authenticity of the piece.
