Elegant Large Austrian Rococo Revival Water Pitcher / Wine Ewer, ca. 1880-1900
> Beautiful and heavy antique pitcher in 800 silver, made in Vienna during the Austro-Hungarian Empire period.
> Hallmarks: Clearly marked on the body under the handle with the Austrian official Diana Head mark used from 1867 to 1922 for 800 silver, with letter "A" for Vienna assay office, plus the 13 Loth / 800 standard mark and maker's mark. See close-up photos.
> Design: Lovely bulbous, fluted melon-shaped body with Rococo cartouches, decorated with two finely chased applied floral bouquets in repoussé (roses). Elegant high spout with scalloped rim, raised on a shaped pedestal foot. Original curved handle in light coloured heat-insulated material (faux ivory / bone) in the typical scroll shape of the period.
> Dimensions & Weight: Approx. height 22-23 cm. Total weight 441 grams as shown on scale.
Silver weight approx. 380-400g excluding handle.
> Condition: Good antique condition. General wear consistent with age and use, light surface scratches and light tarnish inside, as visible in the top-view photo. No dents, no leaks. Handle with age-related discoloration and small wear at junction, stable and fully functional. Please see all photos as part of description.
