賣家描述
Ghau — 铜制佛教旅行祭坛 — Chenrezig(文殊菩萨) — 西藏 — 二十世纪末
remarkable tibetan travel altar (Ghau or Gau), personal devotion object par excellence in the Vajrayāna Buddhist tradition. The devotee carried it on during travels and pilgrimages, allowing perpetual protection of the tutelary deity.
The copper case, with the characteristic arc-shaped broken profile, opens by two-part snug fit and shows a beautiful natural brown patina. It is kept closed by its original cord. The bronze facade of great iconographic richness features at the top a Garuda with wings spread flanked by two Nagas; on the sides, celestial guardians mounted on mythical animals; in the lower register, a Kirtimukha framed by elephants. In the center, an overarched niche houses a tsa-tsa of Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, seated in meditation with hands joined in anjali mudra, placed on a blue fabric background of origin. The whole is carried by its handle—a gold-broidered fabric strap of origin.
Characteristics :
• Epoch : End of the 20th century
• Composition : Bronze facade, copper case
• Dimensions : 12 cm × 10 cm × 3.8 cm
• Weight : 440 g
• Provenance : Tibet Autonomous Region
• Condition : Good overall condition, beautiful ancient patina, original closing cord and carrying strap preserved
