Signed and dated D. Volonté, 1996, this hand-painted porcelain plaque presents an original interpretation inspired by famous illustrator Arthur Rackham’s celebrated depiction of Titania from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Rather than copying Rackham’s illustration, the artist reimagines the composition with a luminous palette, abundant floral detail and refined painterly modelling, translating one of the Golden Age of Illustration’s most iconic subjects into an original work on porcelain.

The plaque is mounted in a finely hand-carved Renaissance Revival style hardwood box with an antique gilt finish, brass fittings, an integrated mirror and a sage-green velvet-lined interior. The porcelain is entirely hand-painted—not a transfer print—with finely layered ceramic enamels that create exceptional depth, colour and detail.

瓷板镶嵌在精美手工雕刻的文艺复兴复兴风格硬木盒中，表面覆以古董镀金装饰，配备铜质配件、内嵌镜子、内衬鼠尾草绿天鹅绒的盒内。瓷板完全手绘——非转印技术——采用分层叠置的陶瓷釉质，呈现出卓越的深度、色彩与细节。

The box is presented in excellent vintage condition. The porcelain remains beautifully preserved with vibrant colours and no visible damage, while the carved hardwood retains its original gilt finish with only light age-related wear. The mirror is bright, the velvet interior is clean, and all fittings function correctly. Research has not identified another signed example by D. Volonté, making this an especially distinctive and highly decorative studio work.

盒子处于极佳的复古状态。瓷板保养良好，颜色鲜明、无可见损坏；雕刻木盒保持原有镀金表面，仅有轻微的年代磨损。镜面明亮，天鹅绒内衬洁净，所有部件均运作正常。尚无研究发现同署名的 D. Volonté 其他作品，因此这件工作室作品尤为独特且极具装饰性。”
