Decorated with elegant purple and white bellflowers 桔梗 (kikyô) amidst slender arching grasses, all set against a luminous egg-shell white ground. Enhanced by silver mounts at the rim and foot.
The underside bears the workshop mark ‘Tamura’ 田村.
Founded in 1883, Tamura Shippo 田村七宝 is one of Japan's most respected cloisonné workshops, located in Shippô-chô, Ama City, Aichi Prefecture, the historic centre of Japanese enamel production. The workshop is renowned for its exceptionally high standard of craftsmanship, producing both traditional wired (yûsen-jippô 有線七宝) and wireless (musen-jippô 無線七宝) cloisonné enamels.
Period: Japan - Shôwa period (1926–1989)
Dimensions: Height: 32 cm; Diameter: 12.5 cm.
The vase is in good condition with minor traces of wear consistent with age. There is a star-shaped hairline crack to the enamel on the reverse and a tiny dent to the upper silver rim. Please study the photographs carefully for a detailed impression of its condition.
