Biography
Enki Shonin (1816-1861)

Bunka 13 (1816)-Bunkyu 1 (1861). The twentieth head priest of Senjuji Temple. In 1831, he became an adopted prince of Prince Tsunahito Arisugawa-no-miya and received the name Satomiya. He entered the Buddhist priesthood in 1836 and succeeded to the temple lineage in 1838 by imperial decree from Emperor Ninko. He promoted Takada Buddhist learning and devoted himself to the observance of Shinran Shonin's 600th memorial service. In 1861, shortly after the conclusion of the 600th memorial service, he passed away at the age of forty-five.
