Offering:
1 exceptional and rare
Hutian Kiln Printed Bowl
Description:
This piece is a standard, elegant vessel from the Song Dynasty's tea-tasting culture, embodying the essence of Song Dynasty minimalist aesthetics. The shape is classic and well-proportioned, with a wide, flared rim and steeply tapering walls. The lines are clean and crisp, and the body retains original hand-thrown marks, showing the natural and authentic traces of ancient craftsmanship. The piece was fired using the Song Dynasty's inverted firing technique, with the original unglazed rim later inlaid with a finely crafted gold clasp, continuing the ancient practice of Song Dynasty aristocratic porcelain decoration, exuding elegance.
This ancient porcelain has endured many vicissitudes over time. The old cracks on the inner wall have been restored using traditional kintsugi (gold repair) techniques, transforming imperfections into elegance, embodying the Eastern aesthetic of appreciating imperfections without being vulgar.
This piece can be traced back to the Southern Song Dynasty, approximately 1127-1279 AD, and was made by Chinese hands. Its materials and exposed clay reveal its material and production date.
Condition:
In good condition, with signs of use. Restored using traditional kintsugi techniques, transforming imperfections into elegance without being vulgar. Inspected with strong UV light. (Please see photos if the text is not clear enough.)
