An absolute icon of Italian lighting design, the "Foglio" wall sconce was designed in 1966 by the legendary duo Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Flos.

Its revolutionary design stems from a pure, minimalist concept: a single sheet of powder-coated steel, cleverly cut, folded, and curved at the sides to wrap around the light source like a soft metallic ribbon. The result is a timeless, sculptural piece that provides both direct and indirect ambient light, creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere in any space.

This lot includes a matching set of two (2) Foglio wall lights in classic white, preserved in exceptional condition and complete with their original Flos packaging materials.

About the Designers: Afra & Tobia Scarpa

Afra & Tobia Scarpa were one of the most celebrated power couples of post-war Italian design. Having met while studying architecture at the IUAV University of Venice under Franco Albini, they established their studio in 1966—the very same year they created the iconic Foglio for Flos. Pioneer collaborators with leading manufacturers like Cassina, B&B Italia, and Knoll, their prolific oeuvre seamlessly combined innovative technology, thoughtful functionality, and timeless sculptural simplicity. Winner of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 1970, the duo’s visionary works are today featured in the permanent collections of world-renowned institutions, including MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Louvre in Paris.
