賣家描述
精心制作的古埃及蓝绿釉法依安斯小饰物, depicting goddess Isis seated on an ornate throne, holding the infant Horus (Harpocrates) on her lap. Isis wears a close-fitting garment and the characteristic tripartite wig surmounted by the throne hieroglyph (Ast), her traditional emblem and the hieroglyph from which her name is derived.
The young Horus is shown seated frontally on his mother's lap with his finger raised to his mouth, the classic iconographic attribute of the divine child in ancient Egyptian art. The reverse is flat and features a horizontal suspension hole, indicating that the piece was intended to be worn or suspended as a protective amulet.
Representations of Isis lactans, or Isis with the child Horus, were among the most popular protective amulets during the Late Period. They symbolised the maternal protection of the goddess, healing, fertility, and divine safeguarding against illness and misfortune. Such amulets were worn in everyday life as personal devotional objects and were also placed in burials as funerary offerings.
The attractive blue-green glaze is largely preserved and displays a pleasing archaeological surface with natural age-related wear.
Condition:
Very good age-related condition with minor losses to the glaze, slight chips and normal wear consistent with age. The suspension hole is complete and intact.
