賣家描述

Ancient Roman Silver Denarius – Emperor Antoninus Pius
c. AD 140–143

A superb and finely struck ancient Roman silver denarius issued during the reign of
Antoninus Pius, one of Rome’s most respected and stable emperors of the High Empire.

Obverse:
Laureate bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with a clear and legible imperial legend
reading ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P, identifying him as Augustus and Pater Patriae (Father
of the Fatherland). The portrait is well-centred, with strong facial detail and an expressive
rendering of the laurel wreath.

Reverse:
The reverse depicts a symbolic ceremonial object, commonly interpreted as a religious
or civic emblem, possibly associated with ritual implements or public virtues,
surrounded by a dotted border and a clear surrounding inscription. The reverse strike is
well preserved and neatly aligned.

The coin is struck on a good silver flan, showing a bright ancient silver tone with light
natural toning. Both obverse and reverse are well preserved, with strong legends and an
overall balanced strike, making this an especially attractive example for collectors.

Details:

Emperor: Antoninus Pius

Date: c. AD 140–143

appeal.
