賣家描述
Item Description
This lot is a set of 3 futa-oki (lid rests), a type of Japanese tea ceremony utensil. Each piece is handmade and comes individually with its own tomobako (wooden storage box). All three pieces bear the artist's signature and/or seal, indicating that they are works by individual artists rather than mass-produced items.
The set contains the following:
1. Bamboo futa-oki: Features three carved decorative bands and a natural base that makes use of the bamboo's root section, with the artist's signature written in orange near the rim.
2. Ceramic futa-oki: Has a tsuzumi (hand drum)-shaped silhouette, finished with a rich green glaze, and features teardrop-shaped openwork cutouts and a petal-shaped foot rim.
3. Ceramic cylindrical futa-oki: Finished in a lustrous dark brown glaze, distinguished by crescent-shaped openwork cutouts.
Each piece reflects the individuality characteristic of hand-crafted tea ceremony utensils, with variations visible in the pooling of glaze, tool marks, and the natural grain of the materials. This is a set well suited to collectors of tea ceremony utensils and artist-made decorative objects.
Dimensions
Height: 6 cm
Width: 5.5 cm
Depth: 5.5 cm
(Measurements are for the largest piece in the set. The other two pieces are slightly smaller.)
Weight
255 g (combined weight of all 3 pieces)
Condition
All three pieces are in good condition consistent with age and use. No cracks or chips were found upon visual inspection. The bamboo piece shows minor signs of age-related wear natural to organic materials. Each piece comes with its own dedicated tomobako.
Additional Information
All three pieces come with their own individual tomobako (wooden boxes), which are generally regarded in Japanese tea ceremony collecting as evidence of authenticity and craftsmanship. The pieces also bear signatures and seals identifying the artist, indicating they are works by an individual artist. Materials are natural bamboo and glazed ceramic.
