Born in 1825, William Larue Weller was one of the first pioneers in Kentucky. He is recognized as a legend by connoisseurs, being the first to distill a wheat bourbon, using wheat instead of rye in the “mashbill”.
The story of William Larue Weller is closely linked to another bourbon legend. In 1893, Weller hired young Julian Van Winkle of the Pappy Van Winkle family and famous bourbon brand.
Produced in the most decorated distillery in the world, W.L. Weller is aged for twelve years, much longer than most wheated bourbons, offering incomparable depth and taste.
