Across a warm, sand-coloured ground, four strange figures assemble like members of a private court: a one-eyed sentinel with a saw-toothed grin, a yellow-crowned cyclops, a double-faced guardian and a triangular figure watched over by a floating golden eye. Each appears to hold a different rank, secret or warning.

In Inner Circle, ARVY transforms the innocence of improvised symbols into a contemporary fable about belonging, surveillance and power. Black, crimson, electric yellow and flashes of green move across the surface in raw, physical strokes, giving the scene the immediacy of a ritual caught in progress. Playful at first glance, the painting becomes increasingly watchful. The longer it occupies a room, the less it feels like you are observing the gathering—and the more it feels as though the gathering has chosen to observe you.
