賣家描述
Scientific name: cf Allosaurus jimmadseni (Chure & Loewen, 2020) - Theropod Dinosaur Tooth in Natural Matrix
Location: Big Horn County, Wyoming (Private Land), USA
Geological Formation: Morrison Fm
Age: Late Jurassic, Oxfordian to earliest Tithonian stage (~156.3–148.1 Million Years)
Size: 2.2 cm - Matrix: 8.8 cm x 4.5 cm x 1.8 cm
REF.: #J589
DESCRIPTION:
Allosaurus jimmadseni from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation is found primarily in western states like Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. These teeth feature sharp, serrated edges and curved, blade-like shapes typical of large Jurassic theropods. Allosaurus jimmadseni is found in lower stratigraphic levels of the Morrison Formation and is slightly older than Allosaurus fragilis.
Identification Limits: Isolated theropod teeth are generally indistinguishable between specific species. Labeling isolated teeth as specific species like A. jimmadseni is difficult unless they are directly associated with an identifiable skull or distinct skeletal remains from a known horizon.
Key Characteristics:
Serrations: Tiny, delicate ziphodont serrations (denticles) along the front and back cutting edges.
Shape: Laterally compressed, curved backward toward the throat to slice into prey like sauropods and stegosaurs.
Coloration: Varies widely based on local fossilization environments, ranging from dark brown and jet-black to tan or reddish hues depending on the specific quarry matrix.
Observations; Here we present one of our most exquisite pieces. The preservation of this small Allosaurus tooth is exceptional, with a pronounced carina (serrations) and still in its natural matrix. No restorations or repairs. A true marvel representative of this mythical therodop from the Morrison Formation.
All of our fossils come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our database verification system on our website. If you find that your certificate has not yet been updated, please contact us and we will update it immediately. Display box included.
