DESCRIPTION

Natural Sri Lankan sapphire weighing 1.07 carats, fashioned as a modified pear with a mixed cut and certified by the Antwerp Laboratory for Gemstone Testing (ALGT).

According to ALGT report no. 11122045, the gemstone is identified as natural corundum, sapphire variety. The laboratory records the colour as Deep Blue, the transparency as Transparent and the origin as Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The report states: “Indications of heating present.” Heating is a standard and accepted treatment for sapphire; no other treatment is stated on the report.

Visually, this is a strongly saturated Deep Blue sapphire with a rich, velvety medium-dark to dark tone. In softer light it has an elegant, almost nocturnal character; under direct illumination, vivid cobalt and electric-blue flashes emerge, visually approaching the classic royal-blue appearance while fully respecting the official ALGT colour designation.

The modified pear outline gives the stone a distinctive and graceful silhouette. Its mixed-cut faceting concentrates the colour effectively and creates sharp flashes across the face of the gemstone. No obvious windowing is visible in the face-up photographs. Some darker peripheral extinction can be observed at certain angles, consistent with the depth and saturation of the colour and contributing to its dramatic contrast.
