Takasuke Nakayama consistently creates abstract works with the motif of "light," and this piece expresses "spectrum," in which light is decomposed by a prism, through vivid geometric colors and gradations, making it a work from the transitional period between representation and abstraction in the 1980s.
Artist Profile:
1949: Born in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture.
1976: Completed the Master's Course in Printmaking, Department of Painting, Tama Art University Graduate School.
1981: Recommended as a member of the Japan Print Association.
1983: Exhibited at the 4th Seoul International Print Biennale and the 1st International Print Exhibit: ROC.
1985: Received the Grand Prize at the Printmaking (Promising New Artist) Grand Prize Exhibition.
1993: Exhibited at the 7th Varna International Print Biennial.
In addition, he has presented works at international print exhibitions and solo exhibitions around the world, and has been widely active in fields such as book design and illustration.
