賣家描述
enamel-Decorated Yixing Tea Caddy
China, late Qing dynasty – Republic period
A finely potted Yixing tea caddy, decorated in polychrome enamels with shaped panels containing a scholar resting beneath a tree, floral sprays, and a panel depicting an elegant orchid. The refined decorative program reflects the literati taste of the late Qing and early Republican period, combining scholarly imagery with auspicious floral symbolism.
The base is stamped:
潮顺图记
(Cháoshùn Tú Jì)
translated as:
“Officially Registered Trademark of the Chao Shun Company.”
Tea caddies of this type were intended for the storage of fine tea leaves, with the Yixing clay helping to regulate humidity and preserve aroma. The richly enameled surface and pictorial decoration suggest production aimed at the refined domestic or Southeast Asian export market during the late 19th to early 20th century.
Dimensions:
H 13 × W 15 cm
Condition:
Wear and scratches throughout, especially to the lid, and a small chip near the foot rim. No further damage observed.
Please examine the images carefully. Small imperfections and kiln-firing flaws are not always described in detail. The written condition report is indicative only; the photographs provide the definitive and binding description of the item’s condition.
