1890 年代左右的古董德语单音阶按钮型三角按键手风琴“ The Tivoli ” | 萨克森民俗遗产与勺形键
Step back into the golden era of European folk craft with this rare late 19th-century German diatonic button accordion. Crafted in Saxony’s famed Klingenthal region around the turn of the 20th century, "The Tivoli" carries the lively, soul-stirring spirit of historic village dance halls, tavern sing-alongs, and fireside folk gatherings. With its warm exposed wood, ornate metalwork, and intricate mechanics, this historic squeezebox is as much a showstopping centerpiece as it is a remarkable piece of musical history.
Key Features & Details
Brand & Markings: Authentic "The Tivoli" model, featuring stamped nickel corner plates reading "Tivoli Accordeon Registered Made in Germany" and soundboard marked "Made in Saxony".
Circa: c. 1890s – 1910s (Late Victorian / Edwardian era).
Origin: Klingenthal / Vogtland region, Saxony, Germany.
Mechanism: 10 external nickel-plated "spoon" lever keys over wooden pallets, driving a single-row bisonoric diatonic reed system.
Acoustic Control: 3 brass pull-knob treble stops operating internal register gates to alter reed combinations and tonal brilliance.
Craftsmanship: Solid wood body with natural grain patina, decorative stamped metal corner brackets, original side pull-knobs, and multi-fold dark bellows.
Musical Heritage & Display Appeal
Rich Traditions: The definitive sound of turn-of-the-century German Volksmusik (polkas, waltzes, and ländlers), early American Cajun tunes, and classic British, Irish, and Scandinavian folk dances.
Condition
Bellows: Multi-fold dark bellows remain structurally intact with no major visible tears or seam separations, holding their shape well for an instrument of this vintage.
Maker Plaques & Hardware: All original stamped metal corner plates and plaques—clearly displaying "Made in Germany" and "Made in Saxony"—are fully intact and preserved with a beautiful, natural antique patina.
Keys & Buttons: All 10 external nickel-plated treble spoon-lever keys and original side pull-knobs are present. The lower button row is intact with the exception of one small missing button cap on the far end (as shown in photos).
Today: Uncommon. Because these were built over 110–130 years ago out of organic materials (wood, animal glue, leather valves, paper-and-fabric bellows), the vast majority were lost to humidity, woodworm, war, or improper attic storage.
The "Tivoli" Brand Name
Compared to ubiquitous brand names like Hohner or Kalbe, the "Tivoli" badge is relatively rare on the vintage market. It was a specific private-label trade name used by Saxon makers for targeted exports to English-speaking markets (the UK, US, Canada, and Australia). You will not see "The Tivoli" pop up for sale nearly as often as mainstream brands.
What Makes This Specific Unit Stand Out
What makes this accordion particularly desirable to collectors isn't just its age, but its state of preservation:
Intact Metal Plaques: Having all four stamped corner plates intact reading "Tivoli Accordeon" and "Made in Germany / Made in Saxony" is increasingly rare. Often, these brass or nickel plates are missing, rusted beyond recognition, or stripped off.
Intact Bellows: Finding original 120-year-old bellows that haven't blown out, rotted, or split at the folds is hard to come by.
Complete Lever System: Having all 10 spoon-lever mechanisms present and working is a huge bonus, as these wire-and-lever systems frequently got bent or broken over a century of handling.
General Vintage State: Shows honest, age-appropriate character throughout, including natural surface wear to the wooden casing, historic wood patina, and light metal oxidation. Offered as exceptional playable antique Accordion or for display.
Collector's Gem: An exquisite find for antique instrument collectors, folk music enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a charming conversation piece for a studio, shelf, or rustic mantle.
