A vintage watch from **IWC (International Watch Co. Schaffhausen)**,
one of Switzerland's most renowned watch brands.

The IWC Caliber 44, introduced in 1959, was the brand's first
automatic movement designed specifically for women's watches.
It features a miniaturized version of IWC's patented "Pellaton" winding system—
often referred to as the "Mini-Pellaton." Despite its compact size,
it is a masterpiece known for its stable and high precision.

What is the Pellaton system? It is a mechanism that converts the rotational movement of the rotor (a semi-circular weight) into a force that drives the gears forward using a component equipped with two pawls.
It is an exceptional, proprietary IWC technology that winds the mainspring efficiently.
Successful miniaturization: In the 1950s, this advanced technology was typically found only in men's watches; IWC succeeded in fitting it into a small case designed for women.
Value as an antique: Frequently found in ladies' antique watches from the 1960s, these timepieces remain cherished and used for years with proper maintenance.

The watch underwent a complete overhaul (disassembly and servicing) in July 2026.
