Vintage Laxey 'Manxland' Rusticated Meerschaum - Estate
Straight from the meerschaum vault, this is a ruggedly handsome, rock-solid example of vintage British pipe history. Hand-crafted by Laxey Pipes Ltd. in the historic workshop on the Isle of Man, this pipe is cut from dense, durable African meerschaum. Unlike soft Turkish block clay, Laxey specialized in a signature, deeply craggy rustication technique that mimics natural coral reef textures—making it an incredibly robust, care-free clencher that you can handle without white gloves.
Shaped into a classic, almost apple/prince shape, the pipe already features a fantastic head start on its lifetime colouring journey. Deep honey-amber tones have naturally baked into the crevices of the shank and lower bowl, while the rim boasts a beautifully dark, dramatic gradient that tells the story of decades of quiet enjoyment.
Condition Report: 8/10 excellent estate condition. The vulcanite stem has been meticulously buffed to a brilliant, pitch-black mirror shine, proudly displaying the crisp, white-stamped 'Man' astronomical logo. The rugged exterior is completely intact with no chips to the rustication. The chamber has been gently cleaned back down to the sound mineral walls, and the rim shows a classic, honest estate character.
Since everyone has their own preferred methods to clean and sterilise internals of the shank and stem, we have intentionally not done this.
