Complete and rare set of Paris à travers les â âges (Paris Through the Ages) — 2nd edition, 1885, Librairie Firmin-Didot et Cie, rue Jacob, Paris.
A major work on the history and architecture of Paris, featuring faithful reconstructions by the architect Fédor Hoffbauer.
• 3 large in-folio volumes:
• Text I
• Text II
• Plates (atlas of illustrations)
Original dark binding with gilt lettering, cords intact. Interior very clean, few signs of use (some normal rubbing to the covers due to age, no tears or missing pages).
Exceptional content:
• Dozens of large-format chromolithographs in colour/sepia (historical views, the Bastille, the Île de la Cité, medieval bridges, the Châtelet, timber-framed houses, etc.)
• Maps, in-text engravings and detailed explanations
