Hemiobol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.3 g).
Obv: Forepart of a boar running to left; to right, tunny fish swimming upwards.
Rev: Lion's head to left, with open jaws; all within incuse square.
Reference: SNG Paris 375.
Kyzikos, a prominent Greek city in Mysia on the Propontis, prospered as a maritime and commercial hub linking the Aegean, Black Sea, and Anatolia. It was renowned for electrum staters, or Kyzikenoi, used widely in eastern Mediterranean trade. Allied at various times with Persia, Athens, and Alexander the Great, it was the site of Athens’ victory over Sparta in 410 BC. Under Rome it remained prosperous before declining through disasters and shifting trade routes.
