Title
Napoleon III Liqueur Cabinet – Cut Crystal & Gilt Brass – 19th-Century France
A superb Napoleon III-era liqueur cabinet —a truly distinctive piece for enthusiasts of 19th-century French furnishings.
The case is crafted from ebonized wood in the Boulle style, accented by an elegant gilt-brass cartouche featuring rocaille motifs set against a red, faux-tortoiseshell background—a hallmark of Second Empire refinement. It retains its original lock and key.
Inside lies a cut-crystal service comprising four stoppered decanters and thirteen matching glasses, ( 3 missing) all held within an elegant, openwork gilt-bronze carrier.
An authentic set in its original condition, bearing signs of use that attest to its age (such as minor cracks and lacquer loss on the exterior veneer, visible in the photos). The decanters are made of clear crystal and are free of chips; however, a few chips are noted on three of the glasses.
A beautiful, functional, and decorative set that epitomizes the lifestyle of the Second Empire.
An ideal piece to complete a collection or to add a touch of heritage elegance to a living room or bar area.
