Born in Kyoto, Morino studied at Kyoto City University of Arts and later became known internationally for works that combine traditional Japanese ceramic techniques with a distinctly modern sense of form and abstraction.
The vase has a restrained cylindrical body with softly rounded shoulders, covered in a vivid turquoise-blue glaze. Contrasting earthy brown bands descend vertically across the surface, their irregular, speckled texture creating a strong yet understated graphic rhythm. The combination of saturated color, asymmetry and simplified geometry is characteristic of Morino’s modern approach to ceramic decoration.
The base bears the artist’s impressed mark. The accompanying biographical sheet records Morino’s extensive exhibition history and works held in numerous Japanese and international museum collections, including institutions in Kyoto, Tokyo, Paris, London and the United States.
