罗盘配有经典的黄铜万向悬挂系统（Gimbal），并附有一个历史性的木质运输箱。

罗盘面刻画精细，刻度分度清晰，采用传统设计，北方标记尤为显著。黄铜部件已经形成自然的岁月和使用痕迹的包浆。

状况

Historischer Marinekompass von Matheson, Leith, Schottland

Zum Verkauf steht ein historischer nautischer Schiffskompass des schottischen Herstellers Matheson, Leith. Auf der Kompassrose befindet sich die Beschriftung:

„Matheson, Maker to the Royal Navy, Leith“

Der Kompass verfügt über eine klassische kardanische Aufhängung (Gimbal) aus Messing und befindet sich in einer dazugehörigen historischen Holz-Transportkiste.

Besonders charakteristisch sind die fein ausgeführte Kompassrose, die Gradteilung und die traditionelle Gestaltung mit der markanten Nordmarkierung. Die Messingteile besitzen eine schöne, natürliche Alters- und Gebrauchspatina.

Zustand

Das Objekt wird im unrestaurierten Zustand angeboten.

Die Kompassflüssigkeit ist nicht mehr vorhanden und die innere Mechanik ist nicht mehr vollständig funktionsfähig. Der Kompass wird daher ausdrücklich als Restaurierungsobjekt bzw. historisches Sammlerstück angeboten.

Die äußeren Komponenten, die kardanische Aufhängung, die Kompassrose, das Glas sowie die Holz-Transportkiste sind vorhanden und zeigen altersbedingte Gebrauchsspuren.

Die vorhandene Patina wurde nicht künstlich aufbereitet oder auf Hochglanz poliert.

Historic Marine Compass by Matheson, Leith, Scotland

Offered for sale is a historic nautical ship's compass by the Scottish manufacturer Matheson, Leith. The compass rose bears the inscription:

“Matheson, Maker to the Royal Navy, Leith”

The compass features a classic brass gimbal suspension and is accompanied by a historic wooden transport case.

The compass rose is finely detailed, with a graduated scale and traditional design featuring a distinctive north marking. The brass components have developed a beautiful, natural patina consistent with age and use.

Condition

The object is offered in unrestored condition.

The compass is no longer filled with liquid, and the internal mechanism is no longer fully functional. It is therefore explicitly offered as a restoration project and historical collector's item.
