Drachm (Silver, 13 mm, 2.33 g).
Obv: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ / ΑΖΟΥ. “Of Azes, the Great King of Kings.” Azes on horseback right, holding whip; 𐨯 (sa) to right.
Rev: 𐨨𐨱𐨪𐨗𐨯 𐨪𐨗𐨪𐨗𐨯 𐨨𐨱𐨟𐨯 / 𐨀𐨩𐨯. Maharajasa rajarajasa mahatasa Ayasa. “Of the Great King, King of Kings, the Great Azes.” Zeus standing left, holding Nike and scepter; monogram to left; 𐨯 (sa) to right.

Azes ruled a powerful Indo-Scythian kingdom across Gandhara, Taxila, the Punjab and the Indus Valley, where Saka conquerors succeeded the declining Indo-Greek kingdoms. His bilingual coinage in Greek and Kharoshthi reflects this fusion of Hellenistic, Iranian and Indian traditions. Styled “King of Kings,” Azes stood at the crossroads of Central Asia and India during a period of intense political and cultural exchange.
