Warhol would probably have seen in the film not just the story of a gangster, but a provocative take on the American dream turned into obsession: money, success, luxury, fame, and power become products to desire and consume.
Dollars, Miami, cars, and Tony's face coexist as symbols of the same consumerist society.
Tony wanted to own the world. Warhol would have turned him into an icon to hang on your wall.
