Maison Stéphan was founded by Jean-Michel Stéphan in 1991 in Tupin-et-Semons. The estate initially began with approximately two hectares of Côte-Rôtie, with the first wines bottled under its own name in 1994. In 2017, Jean-Michel Stéphan joined forces with his son Romain, leading to the creation of Maison Stéphan. The domaine works organically and biodynamically, with a strong focus on natural winemaking and minimal intervention.

Côte-Rôtie is one of the Northern Rhône’s most prestigious appellations, producing refined and complex red wines primarily from Syrah, sometimes complemented by a small proportion of Viognier. The steep, terraced vineyards and granitic and schistous soils contribute to wines that combine power, elegance, floral complexity, spice, and mineral freshness.

The 2017 vintage offers a particularly attractive combination of ripe fruit, freshness, and structure.
