Belonging to the same family since the end of the 17th century, the Domaine Prince Florent de Mérode extends to the appellations of Aloxe-Corton, Corton, Corton-Renardes, Ladoix-Serrigny, Ladoix and Pommard. It is based in Ladoix-Serrigny. The family comes from the princely house of Merode (of the high Belgian aristocracy). His motto: "More honor than honors! ".

It is therefore, as you will have understood, with great honor and passion that the estate works on low yields, producing only very few bottles from its 6ha. To give you an idea of the quality of the terroirs, a little less than three of the six hectares of the estate were sold to the Romanée-Conti estate in 2009, which has since produced a corton under its own label, divided between the Clos du Roi climates (0.57 ha) Bressandes (1.2 ha) and Renardes (0.51 ha). A very prestigious rarity, therefore.

This Clos de la Platière 2006 receives a deep purple dressing gown with ruby reflections. Its bouquet of undergrowth and red fruits expresses all the nobility of Pinot Noir. Fleshy and of a pleasant roundness, the palate has mastic and bottom.

Not decanted, but I believe it would have warranted an hour or so even in this format.
Modest, very Pinot like hue showing little aging.
Clearly a high acidity vintage.With a little luck, this wine will age like a 96 Pommard.
Fairly primary fruit still with cherries, brambly aromas, spices; all fairly tightly wound in acidity. The balance is excellent and I'm confident this wine will improve for another decade. I have found that the wines from this producer take time, which is quite ok..
