Explanation of the work:

The metal or steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have. As a master of steel I am used to feeling its hardness and strength, and when I see that force represented in the essence of metal sculptures, but with this new collection I want to do the opposite: something even more complicated, which is to endow it with sensitivity and to deceive the viewer by showing a sculpture made of hard and resistant steel that looks like silk, that looks like a delicate and elegant piece, simple and delicate yet visually powerful.

They are pieces of stainless steel finished with reliefs and with meticulous attention paid to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to produce a deception in the viewer’s mind, like an trompe-l'œil.

They are forged pieces with utmost care, in an idyllic environment, in full connection with steel and art. They are born with the sound of every fold, of strength and delicacy, and from there flow the notes of their movements, apparently wrinkled and open.

I am seduced by artisanal and disruptive designs, hence, with these vertical and wall sculptures, I focus on becoming part of a new reality, where I seek color, texture and sinuous forms. Who would say that it is steel? These sculptures, with a magically wrinkled appearance, make me revere this material so primitive, for it makes everything possible, without limits to creation or creativity. Even steel can look light as silk.

The piece plays with a mirror effect that makes light bounce and creates spectacular light and shadow games. Creating a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.

José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy and France. Through each one of his pieces, he strives to bring out the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the transformation of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings.
