Loïc Tuhal，born in 1962, is a French contemporary painter whose work is characterised by a physical and expressive approach to painting. He places particular emphasis on colour, texture and gesture, creating compositions with vibrant contrasts and a strong visual presence.

This work, entitled “Intense Gaze”, depicts a face in close-up, constructed through powerful brushstrokes and striking colour contrasts. The particularly expressive gaze forms the central focus of the composition and immediately draws the viewer’s attention.

Reds, blues, oranges, yellows, greens and pinks blend with generous pictorial texture, while touches of black structure the face and reinforce its visual impact. Loïc Tuhal’s free and energetic brushwork gives the work a particularly strong and distinctly contemporary presence.
