Description

Splendid decorative centerpiece with a large polished top crystal cup, inserted in an elaborate metal mount in historicist taste, inspired by the European ornamental repertoire of the Luigi XV/ Napoléon III era.

The cup features deep geometric polishing work, characterized by large stars, rosettes, fans, radial motifs and numerous facets that create spectacular plays of light.

Inside the cup there is still an original stamp, albeit worn, reading “CRISTALLO SUPERIORE”, a classification used for crystal with high lead oxide content.

The mount is particularly dramatic and richly worked: it features two large side handles with vegetal motifs, four arched supports decorated with acanthus leaves, a perimeter decorative band, a profiled square base and four scroll feet.

The ensemble deliberately recalls the great European centerpieces of 19th-century taste.

Conditions

Excellent condition.

The crystal cup is intact, without chips or cracks.
The mount shows a lovely patina consistent with the age and type of object.
