Red and orange maples, pines and clumps of susuki grass emerge among the hills, while several trees rise directly from the water. Fallen maple leaves carried by the current follow the sinuous course of the stream, introducing a particularly delicate detail within the composition.
The falling maple leaves carried by the water evoke the fleeting nature of the seasons and the passage of time, while the evergreen pines symbolize longevity and perseverance. Their juxtaposition creates a poetic contrast between change and permanence.
Signed and sealed at the lower left.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.

Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.

---The byobu is in good condition, with minor wear and minor stains to the paper consistent with age and use. Signs of wear to the lacquered frame. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
