如今也许难以想象，但在20世纪的大部分时间，Macallan 主要还是混合酒中的一种成分麦芽。直到1980年代市场低迷，该蒸馏厂才决定专注于其单一麦芽品牌。恰逢其时，这也正值蒸馏厂在1960年代和1970年代授权给 Campbell, Hope & King 与 Gordon & MacPhail 的高质量发行掀起热潮的巅峰。这些发行至今仍是市场上最具收藏价值的样品之一。尽管全球单一麦芽的销量仍以斯佩赛德的邻近品牌 Glenfiddich 与 Glenlivet 为首，但 Macallan 无疑是最受追捧的。事实上，甚至在2018年，他们还不得不开设全新的蒸馏厂，这是位于 Easter Elchies 庄园内的地下建筑杰作，拥有36口铜锅蒸馏器。
