pl: British Commonwealth, USSR and Romania 1900-1970 – Comprehensive thematic stockbook (over 300 stamps)EN: British Commonwealth, USSR & Romania 1900-1970 – Comprehensive Stockbook Collection (300+ Stamps)Lot Description: The auction item is an old philatelic stockbook containing a very varied international collection of postage stamps, fiscal stamps and postal history from the 20th century (with some single classic 19th-century values). The collection is clearly divided into two interesting segments:
British Commonwealth: the strongest and most valuable part of the album. It includes issues from the Queen Victoria era, King Edward VII, George V, George VI and the Younger Queen Elizabeth II. Notable overseas territories and colonies include: Canada (classic penny issues + rare Registered Letter Stamp), Gold Coast, Nigeria (including a beautiful landscape-and-history series and coronation issue 1953), Ceylon, Trinidad & Tobago, Sierra Leone, Singapore & Malaya, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Jamaica and the British Antarctic Territory. Many stamps have very clean, legible postmarks from the era (including date stamps and official Service cancellations).
The stockbook also contains genuine, old Indian stamps (cards and cut-outs) with legible postmarks dating around 1950.
Eastern Europe and the USSR: Rich thematic collection from Romania (People's Republic of Romania and Posta Romana – 1950s and 1960s) and the USSR. Postage stamps thematically arranged: space exploration (early space program Sputnik 1957-1959), Olympic Games (Melbourne 1956, Rome 1960, Innsbruck 1964), FIFA World Cup in football, flora (mushrooms, alpine flowers), fauna (reptiles, birds songbirds, exotic animals from Bucharest Zoo) and classic Russian sacred and defensive architecture.
Condition of preservation: Stamps mostly cancelled (Used / CTO). Overall condition rated as very good/good. Mounting in most cases complete, colors vibrant. The entire collection is housed in an old stockbook carrying standard signs of wear, with the cover preserving a historical Dutch dealer stamp of “De Ruiter” from Klaaswaal on the back cover."
