双手举起成双重abhaya mudra(无畏手印)。
DETAILS
• Origin: Thailand, Bangkok / Rattanakosin
• Period: Late Rama V
• Date: circa 1900
• Type: Standing Buddha in full royal regalia
• Material: Cast bronze/copper alloy, lacquer and gilding
• Height: 69 cm including throne
• Buddha height: 54 cm without throne
• Maximum width throne: 17 cm
• Weight: 7.5 kg
CONDITION
Good antique condition with considerable age-related wear and losses.
The original gilding and lacquer are extensively worn, with craquelure and losses revealing the darker metal and red ground beneath.
The uppermost part of the flame finial is broken, and the remaining finial is slightly bent.
The Buddha's feet have some movement within their mounting, allowing the figure to sway slightly, but also to be adjusted into position.
The right arm is slightly out of alignment with the body, appearing to reflect an asymmetry in the original modelling/casting.
Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description.
An unusually large and richly ornamented Buddha, distinguished by its elaborate royal costume, a few surviving glass decoration, original lacquer and gilding, hollow-cast construction and exceptionally detailed ceremonial throne.
