This Mid - Century Modern period service duo is an iconic production from the famous manufactory Villeroy & Boch , featuring the highly celebrated pattern named Acapulco designed in the late nineteen sixties by designer Christine Reuter based on an original Mexican drawing . The lot consists of a large caquelon or fondue pan fitted with a long straight handle along with a matching large pitcher . Both items are crafted from vitro - porcelain , a patented ceramic material that is particularly dense and resistant , offering a pure brilliant white background . The perimeter of the pieces displays a highly vibrant polychrome frieze depicting stylized exotic birds with cobalt blue and lilac feathers surrounded by bright blossoms in orange , bright yellow and moss green shades , a graphic universe highly typical of the seventies Pop aesthetic .
The caquelon features an individual weight of 950 g for a height of 9 cm , a top rim diameter of 20 cm and a total length of 34 cm including its straight hollow handle . The large pitcher weighs 700 g for a height of 14 , 5 cm , a top diameter of 10 cm and a total width of approximately 17 cm including the rear handle and the pouring spout , bringing the combined total weight of this duo to 1650 g . The reverse side of each base bears the official circular stamp printed in blue underglaze showing the mark of Ancienne Manufacture Imperiale et Royale Villeroy & Boch Septfontaines , complete with the mention Made in Luxembourg as well as the Acapulco collection title . The general condition of preservation of both pieces is excellent , as the vitro - porcelain is in remarkable fresh condition with perfectly glossy glazes , showing no cracks , chips or fading on the painted decorations .
