Biography
Tōjō Kōkō (1917-?)
Taisho 6 (1917)-?. Born in Fukushima Prefecture. Japanese painter of the Showa and Heisei periods. He studied at the Kawabata Art School and under Ochiai Rofu, and became active in the Meiro Bijutsu Renmei exhibitions from 1936. In 1943 he participated in the founding of the Japan Artists Association. In 1961 he became the chief priest of Muryoji Temple in Wakayama Prefecture and established the Kushimoto Okyo Rosetsu Museum within the temple grounds. In 2008 he revived the Meiro Bijutsu Renmei. His real name was Shuji, and he also used the art name Mitsutaka.
