// Short historical background
The Apple Macintosh Performa 600 was introduced in May 1993 as a consumer-focused alternative to Apple’s professional Quadra line. Internally based on the Motorola 68040 processor, the Performa 600 delivered strong performance for its time while targeting home and educational users.

The Apple Macintosh Performa

Early Performa 600 units were offered with a caddy-loaded CD-ROM drive, a feature that was soon replaced by tray-loading mechanisms. As a result, original caddy-loaded Performa systems have become increasingly rare and are now of particular interest to collectors of early multimedia Macintosh computers.

This unit is offered as a non-working restoration project, ideal for collectors, vintage-Mac enthusiasts, or anyone looking for an authentic early-’90s Apple system to restore or display.
