Description:

A beautiful Mid-Century Modern trinket or cigarette box, masterfully hand-carved in Italy during the 1960s/1970s.

This elegant casket is crafted from genuine Italian alabaster, showcasing striking natural veining and rich ochre, amber, and honey tones.
The exterior walls feature a highly decorative, deeply textured chiseled finish, creating a wonderful contrast with the perfectly polished, smooth top lid.

The interior reveals the stunning, naturally speckled crystalline structure of the stone. The box is framed with its original solid brass trim and integrated hinge mechanism, which remains in perfect working order, closing tightly and smoothly.

The underside still retains its original silver and blue foil export label: "GENUINE ALABASTER - HAND CARVED - MADE IN ITALY", guaranteeing its authenticity and origin (most likely from the famous workshops of Volterra, Tuscany).
It also features four original round felt pads to protect delicate furniture surfaces.

Condition Report:
The box is in excellent vintage condition with no structural cracks, chips, or repairs. The stone retains its rich color and natural gloss. The brass frame shows a very light, authentic age patina but remains bright and clean. The interior is pristine, completely free of any stains or odors.
