Both terminals are flattened and decorated with incised cross-hatched geometric patterns, adding a strong decorative element to the otherwise robust form.\n\nThe open-ended construction is characteristic of ancient bronze bangles and bracelets, allowing the piece to be adjusted slightly when worn. The combination of twisted moulding, engraved terminals and heavy construction gives the object a particularly bold appearance.\n\nBronze bracelets of this type are associated with Roman-period Britain, where native Celtic decorative traditions continued alongside Roman fashions.
