賣家描述
Description:
A ceramic chawan by Eizo Mukunoki, decorated in a distinctive gosu and aka-e style. The bowl has a rounded, substantial body with a gently irregular rim and a relatively high foot. The exterior is covered predominantly in a deep blue gosu glaze, leaving a large pale reserve on one side. Within this lighter area, a freely brushed floral motif is painted in blue, red, and brown tones. The interior is finished in a pale grey-white glaze with natural speckling and subtle glaze variation. The foot is partly left unglazed, revealing the clay body and firing marks. Variations in glaze, brushwork, surface texture, and firing are part of the handmade nature of the piece. The bowl is accompanied by its original fitted wooden box with inscription and seal, as well as a cloth.
Dimensions:
10.8 × 9.5 cm
Weight: 389 g
Condition:
Very good vintage condition with minor age-related wear and natural variations in the glaze and surface. Please review the photographs carefully for details.
Artist Profile:
Eizo Mukunoki (b. 1942) is a Japanese ceramic artist from Shimane Prefecture whose work is closely associated with the spirit of the Mingei movement. As a young potter, he trained under the renowned Kyoto ceramic artist Kanjiro Kawai and later studied with Takeichi Kawai and Hirotsugu Kawai. His work reflects the influence of the Kawai ceramic tradition while developing an individual approach to form, glaze, and painted decoration. Mukunoki produced a wide range of functional and tea ceramics, often using expressive gosu blue, red decoration, natural glazes, and freely brushed motifs. This work is believed to date from before 2009, based on the use of the name Eizo Mukunoki. He later became known by the artist name Shunsui.
