从教会圣像学和文艺复兴大师的深沉明暗对比中汲取灵感，《赎罪》讲述道德清算、忏悔，以及罪疚的重担。沿坐者脊背排列的燃烧蜡烛如同一种感官化的祭坛之重——字面意义上的过犯之负担，以及对苦难的庄严忍耐。以石榴为两边烘托——希腊语中象征地狱阴影与再生更新之承诺——整幅画面在原始的牺牲与 spiritual restoration 的终极希望之间取得平衡。

关于艺术家
