Italian States – Kingdom of Naples – 1858 Issue

Interesting group of 8 genuine used stamps, originating from a private collection.

The 5 stamps in the upper row are accompanied by the expert indication “DIFETTOSO – ORIGINALI” (“FAULTY – GENUINE”) and comprise:

2 × 1 grano, Plate II – Sassone No. 4 – catalogue approx. €100 each = €200
5 grana, Plate II – Sassone No. 9 – catalogue €350
5 grana, Plate I – Sassone No. 8b – catalogue approx. €240
5 grana, Plate I – Sassone No. 8 – catalogue €100

Combined nominal catalogue value of the 5 faulty stamps: approximately €890.

These stamps are therefore expressly offered as genuine but faulty. The individual faults are not specified on the expert note and no additional undocumented defects are attributed.

The 3 stamps in the lower row are separately accompanied by the indication “ORIGINALE – FIRMA + CLASS” (“GENUINE – SIGNATURE + CLASSIFICATION”) and bear Sorani's signature and classification on the reverse:

½ grano – Sassone No. 1 – catalogue €600
2 grana – Sassone No. 5c – catalogue approx. €100
2 grana – Sassone No. 6b – catalogue €100

Combined nominal catalogue value of the 3 signed/classified stamps: approximately €800.

Approximate overall catalogue reference for the lot: €1,690

These figures are nominal catalogue references; the faulty condition of the five upper stamps substantially affects their actual commercial value.

Different period cancellations are present, including the characteristic boxed “ANNULLATO”, clearly visible in the photographs. No postal-office attribution, rarity rating or Sassone points are claimed unless directly documented.

All front and reverse photographs form an integral and substantial part of the description and accurately document condition, margins, paper, cancellations, signatures and classifications.

Catalogue quotations are provided solely as a philatelic reference and do not constitute a guarantee of the eventual selling price.

Provenance: private collection.
The lot is sold exactly as shown in the photographs.
