Large rectangular semi-translucent Chinese Seal with script -China- 20th Century
On offer is a rectangular, semi-translucent large Chinese stone seal with beautifully carved Chinese characters. The stone is, or resembles Tianhuang stone. It has a nice translucency with small dark spots and specs. The seal is nicely engraved at one side with Chinese characters in high-quality calligraphy style! The face of the seal is carved with several Chinese characters in Archaic style. Nice smooth surface by use. UV check shows that the stone is natural, so not artificially colored.
Provenance: Recently, we had the privilege of acquiring a richly varied collection of old/antique Chinese stone seals. These remarkable seals have been brought together over many years by a private collector. They consist of good quality authentic Chinese seals made from various colored mineral stones, including possibly shoushan stone (larderite). The dating varies; but they are all from the Qing period into the 20th century.
During the coming period, we will offer items of this collection at a time. Please use your knowledge and judge for yourself, we offer them all without reserve price. Don't miss this opportunity! Good luck bidding!

About: Toon Renjie, born September 1963, a native of Jiaxing, Zhejiang, is a renowned contemporary ceramic carver, calligrapher, painter and seal carver, as well as a grand-disciple of the great master Huang Binhong.
Size: Measures 74 mm (height) * 30 mm * 30 mm (base).
Weight: 179,88 Gram.
Condition: Excellent, typical age related wear from use, some small fleabites on the corners, but no damage!
