Faience Amulet of ELDER Horus.

Horus the Elder, or Haroeris, is one of the oldest sky and creator gods in ancient Egypt.

Iconography & Style
Depiction: The amulet shows Horus in his classic zoomorphic form as a perched falcon resting on a flat, rectangular base.

The Crown: He wears the Double Crown of Egypt (the Pschent), which combined the White Crown of Upper Egypt and the Red Crown of Lower Egypt, symbolizing his role as the divine ruler over a unified country.

Suspension Loop: A small, prominent pierced loop is molded directly onto the back of the figure's neck, indicating this was designed to be strung onto a necklace or integrated into a protective mummy wrapping network.

Material & Condition
Composition: The piece is made of faience, a quartz-based ceramic material known for its lustrous, glass-like finish. The deep turquoise-blue hue was highly symbolic in ancient Egypt, representing rebirth, vegetation, fertility, and the heavens.

Surface wear: A moderate accumulation of reddish-brown earthen deposits or iron staining is settled deep within the incised lines of the falcon’s wing feathers, beak, legs, and crown. This is consistent with an object that has been buried or excavated, adding fine visual contrast to the carved details.
