賣家描述

Remarkable historical ensemble of 25 postcards relating to military correspondence and official acknowledgment (1918) sent from prisoner-of-war camps in Germany during the First World War.

The entire lot is addressed to Monsieur Jules Léon Jamin in Nantes, President of the General Council and of the Federation of Relief Works for Prisoners of War in Loire-Inférieure. These items served as acknowledgments of receipt for the control and forwarding of food parcels destined for mobilized internees.

Historical and military interest:
Direct link with the 65th Infantry Regiment (Nantes) / Friedrichsfeld Camp: presence of the card of Émile Renaudineau (Baraque 32, reg. 38546) and Pierre Pion (same block 32), poilus captured and interned together at the camp.

Camp relief committees: card of Sergeant Albert Marzard (69th RI), camp committee president at Altdamm with large violet official stamp of the Federation. Card of Émile Landreau with stamp of the Darmstadt Relief Committee.

Everyday life and provisioning testimonies: numerous letters detailing precisely the handwritten inventory of received provisions (cans, chocolate, coffee, rice, beans, soap, tobacco, clothing), illustrating survival in 1918.

Regiments represented: 65th RI, 135th RI, 2nd Colonial (RIC), 69th RI, 82nd RI, 164th RI, 264th RI, 81st and 85th Territorial.

Rich philatelic content and censorship:
10 distinct German camps: Giessen, Friedrichsfeld bei Wesel, Minden, Münster I, Altdamm, Darmstadt, Wittenberg, Meschede, Gardelegen and Stuttgart.

Clear postmarks: camp date stamps from German camps, censorship marks (Geprüft, censor marks, imperial eagle of Giessen), linear marks and arrival stamps in Nantes.

Condition and preservation:
Authentic period cards that circulated (written on both sides with addresses, correspondence and emargements).

Very good overall condition considering wartime use; possible light foxing, minor marginal creases or ink smudges on some items. The set is stored in individual transparent protective sleeves.

Shipping:
Careful and secure dispatch as a tracked and insured registered letter.
