Photographer Artist – Contemporary Image Creator

Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on looking, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first gained recognition with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Walls of legends

This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to the essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an immediately recognizable identity. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-like aesthetics, the works fit into the tradition of street art, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, face-laminated between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant coating, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
